Auditioning now for September 2020
We have scrapped fees (T&Cs apply)to audition for us, because we believe in a fairer arts training for all. Please note we still require you to complete an application form, which you can do online above. Further notes below.
- All audition days are arranged by application which must be applied for in advance.
- Access to courses is by audition only.
- There will be a £25 deposit to secure an audition with us. The fee will be refunded at the end of the audition, and in the event of cancellations only when advised with at least 48 hours notice. If you would like a written assessment of the work presented at the audition, we do have to charge a small fee for this of £15 (please request on application if you require this).
- Once you have submitted your online application we will send you a date to come and audition at Cygnet Theatre. Contact Cygnet office for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org / 01392 277189.
At audition we ask you to perform two contrasting pieces up to 2 minutes in length, prepared in advance. One should be Shakespeare and the other from a modern playwright (post 1950). You will be asked to take part in a workshop
session with members of the present company and other audition candidates. You will be asked to sight read a piece of text and sing an unaccompanied song of your own choosing. A simple folk song or nursery rhyme will do very well.
Please note our auditions usually last at least two hours.
