Caroline Diffley, piano teacher and ABRSM examiner, and Trevor Wiggins, former Head of Music at Dartington College, tutor at South West Music School and expert in African music, will be running this course. The project involves learning a solo piece of African piano music, and also attending four 90 minute sessions through the year which will include African drumming, some movement and vocal work, and will end with a concert. The first session will be in October 2023, and there are 12 places available. The cost for the course will be £45, and the sessions will take place at the Cygnet Theatre.
African piano music now features on many of the piano Grade exam piece lists. We are very grateful to Samuel Nkrumah Yeboah, an expert in Ghanaian music, who will be with us for part of the course.
